THREE Marseille fans were arrested after a security guard was 'stabbed in the neck' . The violence inside and around the San Mames Stadium overshadowed the French side's 2-1 win against Athletic Bilbao. Police confirmed two security guards were left injured after being attacked by fans before the match. One of them, aged 57, has a wound in the neck caused by a sharp object, according to Basque cops. Visiting fans were filmed fighting with the stadium security and throwing flares towards the Bilbao supporters. The incidents come after a Basque police officer, 51, died of a heart attack in Bilbao on February 22 during fan violence involving Spartak Moscow. Marseille came close to opening the scoring after just eight minutes but Lucas Ocampos' effort was saved. In the 37th minute, Payet was taken down in the box after he played a one-two with Konstantinos Mitroglou. But Bilbao players and fans clearly disagreed with the decision made by referee Anthony Taylor. Ex-West Ham star Payet stepped up the spot and confidently slotted the ball into the bottom right corner. Ocampos doubled Marseille's tally in the early stages of the second half to put the next round out of touching distance for Bilbao.
